In response to the growing crisis, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed service chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri and take full control of the situation on ground. The move is seen as a decisive step aimed at intensifying military operations and restoring stability in the affected region.
Reacting to the development, a security analyst warned that more decisive and coordinated action is needed to prevent further escalation.
“I’m saying this clearly, if Kashim Shettima and the government don’t act fast, security will keep worsening,” the analyst stated.
The Vice President, who hails from Borno State, is expected to play a key role in supporting federal efforts to tackle the crisis, given his deep understanding of the region and its long-standing security challenges.
Experts believe that beyond military action, there is also a need for improved intelligence gathering, community engagement, and stronger collaboration between security agencies. Without these, they warn, the cycle of attacks may continue.
Many Nigerians are now watching closely, hoping that the latest directives will translate into real results on the ground. For residents of affected communities, the priority remains simple—safety, stability, and a return to normal life.
As pressure mounts on the government to deliver lasting solutions, one question remains:
Will this renewed effort finally bring an end to the violence, or is Nigeria facing another prolonged security battle?
