“What do people really want from me?” – Singer Busola Oke Eleyele responds to those criticising her songs (Video)

Nigerian singer Busola Oke has responded to those who have been constantly criticising her new songs.

In a video making the rounds online, she questioned what people wanted from her, noting that nothing she does pleases them.

Busola said anytime she sings, they fault her for singing outdated songs and compare her to her colleagues. She noted that they also call her too old to sing their type of songs.

“I’m at a loss for what people really want from me? There is nothing I do that is good in your eyes. No matter what I do, it’s never right, and you always find fault. Have I offended you before? If I sing, you will say it it is not what my colleagues are singing and that it is an outdated genre. If I sing the kind of song you prefer, you will say I am too old for that kind of song. How can I possibly meet your expectations? What is the problem? Can’t you just let me be? LEAVE ME ALONE”.

A few days ago, Busola was gifted a plot of land and had bagged an ambassadorial deal with a property company.

The popular singer topped headlines after she opened up about her ongoing struggles in the music industry, expressing deep frustration over the difficulty of earning a sustainable income from gospel music, noting that talent doesn’t guarantee success.

In an interview with Biola Bayo, Busola explained that she cried on the live video because she was lonely, depressed, frustrated and hungry. She said she didn’t ask for help from people because that isn’t who she is. Oke, said she has no car, owes a lot of people, and was struggling to pay for the hotel she stays at, which costs N55,000 a day.

Speaking up for her, Fuji maestro Pasuma said that the time Busola sang Eleyele had passed because people have moved on from that kind of music. He said that anyone who is still making a living from singing is doing so only by the grace of God, as things have changed. The Fuji maestro added that Busola is his personal person and he felt bad when he watched the video of her crying.

In 2023, Busola had called out her colleague, Gbenga Adewusi, for stripping her of her earnings because she turned down his sexual advances. She revealed that she was rendered broke by the label and was compelled to sell her assets because she refused to be part of his harems of women.

Responding to her allegations, Gbenga noted how he brought her up from nobody to somebody without dating her or seeing her nakedness. He recounted how she allegedly had an affair and gave birth to their London-based promoter, got into trouble with his wife, and more. He called her the architect of her own predicament.
