She explained that the role demanded an extreme emotional investment that pushed her beyond her usual limits as a performer.
Unlike previous characters where she maintained a degree of control, she found herself completely embodying the role.
The aftermath of the shoot was severe. Duke described how her eyes became so swollen from excessive crying that she was unable to continue filming the next day.
Her condition deteriorated to the point of temporarily losing her vision, prompting her sisters to rush her to the hospital.
Medical professionals administered medication to address the swelling, which thankfully subsided following treatment.
The actress noted the experience was particularly intense because she wore the character like a second skin, a departure from her typical approach to managing emotions on set.
Her words: “Love Potion, a film I did for Frederic Leonard TV. That role pushed me to my limits. In fact, the next day, I temporarily lost my sight because of how much I cried during filming. My eyes were so swollen that I couldn’t shoot, and my sisters had to take me to the hospital. I was given medication, and thankfully, the swelling went down. It was intense because, unlike other roles where I could control my emotions, I completely embodied that character. I wore the role like a second skin.”
