Former governor of Edo State and the Senator representing the Edo North senatorial district, Adams Oshiomhole, on Wednesday, said there was never a time he said if anyone decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC) his or her sins will be forgiven.
He debunked the allegation at the 28th Founders Day Lecture of the Independent Television and Radio, with the theme: “Nigeria, where are we going”?, an event organized by the media outfit in Benin.
Senator Oshiomhole said that he was only trying to explain to one of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members whose surname was “Iluobe” meaning I do no wrong.
Oshiomhole said that the former PDP member decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and he was only trying to tell him to maintain his surname now that he has joined the APC, adding that ever since then, people have twisted it to mean that he told him that his sins have been forgiven now that he is now in the APC.
The former governor of Edo State also faulted the former vice president Atiku Abubakar for criticising the former governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and his successor, Sheriff Oborevwori for decamping to the APC.
The chairman of the senate committee on interior said Abubakar has no moral rectitude to chastise them because decamping from one party to another is his stock in trade.
He said when the situation is to his favour, he will not complain but if it goes otherwise, it becomes an issue of discourse.
The Edo North senator while commending the president Bola Tinubu on the way he has been handling the issues of people moving from the opposition party to the APC, he said, he has never used the instrumentality of states to coerce anyone to join his party but those joining are being compelled by the charismatic leadership of the presidency.
On the part of the Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, he assured the management of the Independent Television and Radio of a strong collaboration in the state.
Okpebholo represented by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Paul Ohonbamu, said that the state government has embarked on roads infrastructure to make life worthwhile for the people of the state.
