Popular media host and influencer Tomike Adeoye has opened up about the shocking discovery of her late mother’s decade-long secret battle with a deadly disease.

She revealed that her mother had been ill for over 10 years without anyone in the family knowing, as she chose to remain strong and shield them from the pain. It was only when she had about a year or two left to live that the severity of her condition became known.

According to the media personality, her mother viewed living long enough to see her children marry and have kids as an unexpected bonus from God, urging them to celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing.

Tomike Adeoye said: “That is how strong my mother was. My mom was ill for over 10 years. And I had no clue that she was battling like a deadly disease. And by the time I found out, she had I think a year or two years left. And so imagine her always saying, ‘If I go, have I not tried? I saw my children.’ Apparently, she was always praying to God that she wanted to see us get married. And so to her, she said the fact that she even saw us have kids was like a bonus. Like God gave her extra. And so she’ll be like, ‘If I die, pick yourself up. Raise your head up high. And do not be saying, sorry, sorry.’”
