Pete Edochie Decries Nigeria’s Power Crisis, Says He Spends ₦40,000 Daily on Electricity

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has raised concerns over Nigeria’s worsening electricity situation, revealing that he spends about ₦40,000 daily to keep power running in his home.

Speaking during an interview on African Independent Television (AIT), the respected actor disclosed that his monthly expenses on electricity-related costs, including diesel and petrol for generators, amount to about ₦1.2 million.

Edochie expressed frustration over the country’s persistent power challenges, noting that many political leaders appear more focused on retaining power than addressing the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians.

He said the heavy financial burden of maintaining electricity has become a daily struggle for many households across the country.

Nigeria has continued to experience unstable electricity supply, with power generation dropping in recent months due largely to gas shortages affecting thermal power plants. The situation has left millions of Nigerians relying on generators and receiving only a few hours of electricity daily.

Industry observers say the ongoing crisis underscores the urgent need for sustainable energy reforms to improve power generation, distribution, and affordability across the country.
