Federal Government Opens 18 VCN Job Positions 2026 (How to Apply)

The Federal Government has opened applications for 18 positions under the Value Chain for Northern Nigeria (VCN) Programme

, a major agricultural development initiative implemented in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the French Development Agency (AFD).

The programme aims to increase the incomes, food security, and resilience of smallholder farmers and other agricultural value-chain actors across nine northern states:

Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Zamfara, Borno, Katsina, Yobe, Bauchi, and Kano

The available positions are based at the VCN National Programme Coordination Office (NPCO) in Abuja. Successful candidates will be required to travel regularly to the participating states.

Most specialist and senior positions require a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline. Depending on the position, applicants may need qualifications in areas including:

The Procurement Assistant position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Applicants for some positions are also expected to belong to relevant professional bodies or possess recognised professional certifications.

The VCN Programme seeks experienced professionals with relevant backgrounds in areas such as:

For example, candidates applying for the Gender & Social Inclusion Specialist position must have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of seven years in a similar role involving internationally funded agricultural development projects.

Successful candidates will be engaged on a

two-year staff contract

, subject to annual performance evaluation. The contract may be renewed based on satisfactory performance.

Remuneration will be competitive and based on the applicable FGN/IFAD/AFD salary scales for nationally recruited project staff. The positions involve regular travel to the nine participating states, as well as occasional travel for IFAD/AFD missions and training.
