After Ogeto passed away due to brain cancer, Nakuru police officer Sammy Ondimu and Ogeto's friend in Alabama, USA, set up a TikTok fundraising to gather KSh 1.5 million for his return and a respectable funeral.
The team was surprised to discover that Ogeto's body had already been covertly transported on Wednesday, January 29, even though they had been told that it would reach Kenya on Sunday, February 2.
The wife, June Angel, was not involved in the repatriation of her husband's body and Kenyans felt sorry for her.
During his mass, while viewing his body, his wife was overwhelmed with emotions.
She wore black attire, a common choice for funerals in many cultures, as a sign of respect and mourning.
Other mourners supported her during the trying time, and Kenyans comforted her. Her father-in-law during his speech reprimanded her.
He asked her to take their grandson to Kisii and to stop smearing her mother-in-law with dirt online.
"Junita, my child, I am your father. I have never seen you come home and stay. You usually come and leave. Where did mum get you and chase you away? All the things you have written online are for what purpose? I would rejoice that the child my son left to come home. You will go to work, but bring our child home."
Ogeto's wife was only informed of her husband's body arriving in Kenya two days later.
A source had revealed that June did not know of her partner's critical condition until December 2024, when he started losing memory.
