According to a report published by VANGUARD on Saturday, March 14, 2026, he stated that his parents had always known he was destined for ministry, but his journey was far from easy. He explained that after finishing school, he decided to move to Lagos even though no one in his family had ever been there before.

Okafor stated that when he got to Ojota, he had no idea where to go. While wandering, he saw a grammar school and approached the security guard, pleading to be allowed to stay in the security post. According to him, that small space became his first home in Lagos.

He stated that his daily routine involved waking up early to pray and then going out for street evangelism before the students arrived. He said later in the day, when the school closed, he returned to the security post to rest.

He stated that those days were marked by hunger and hardship, as he often had nothing to eat. Despite this, he continued preaching, praying, and ministering to people. He slept in the same room as the security guard, enduring the challenges while holding firmly to his calling.

He said,

“When I got to Lagos, I stopped at Ojota. I did not know where else to go. I saw a grammar school. I went to that school. I begged the security man to allow me to stay in the security post.”
