“We’re Here To Give You The Good News That Nnamdi Kanu Might Be On His Way to Freedom”

Addressing supporters during a mobilization event ahead of the October 20 march, Sowore stated, “We’re here to give you the good news that Nnamdi Kanu might be on his way to freedom.” His declaration drew excitement from the audience as he called on Nigerians to remain united and committed to achieving justice.

Sowore explained that the campaign for Kanu’s release has entered its final phase and urged citizens to participate in the peaceful demonstration planned for Monday, October 20, at Aso Rock Villa. He likened the movement to the biblical fall of Jericho, describing it as the final push to bring down the “wall of injustice” that has kept Kanu in detention.

He said, “That wall of Jericho that has been keeping our brother from freedom, we want to take it down. We have one more step to take, and that is to march together on Monday.”

Sowore made it clear that the movement is not asking for leniency or pardon but demanding Kanu’s unconditional release. “We’re not begging Tinubu to release Kanu; we’re demanding his release from unjust detention,” he emphasized. He further accused the Nigerian government of violating international law by abducting Kanu from Kenya, calling it an act of “international kidnapping.”

The activist questioned the government’s selective application of justice, saying, “Why is it that terrorists and bandits aren’t in court, while drug dealers are being pardoned?” According to him, this inconsistency proves that Nigeria’s justice system favors the powerful and punishes those who challenge authority.

Sowore also revealed that he and his team have been touring markets and communities to raise awareness about the campaign. “This is the sixth market we’re visiting in two days to mobilize people for Nnamdi Kanu’s release on Monday,” he said, encouraging citizens to take part in the peaceful protest, even for a few hours.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to remain steadfast and courageous, assuring them that the movement is close to victory. “We have run out of time, but we have not run out of patience,” Sowore said. “This is the last lap to the promised land, and together, we will bring our brother home.”

The campaign, trending under the hashtag #MNKOctober20Free, continues to gain momentum across the nation as citizens rally behind the call for freedom, justice, and equality.
