Hichilema to attend inauguration ceremony in Tanzania

President Hakainde Hichilema is today flying to Tanzania for the inauguration ceremony of that country’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan who was declared winner of elections that has sparked mass protests in the eastern Africa country.
The protests begun on the day of voting as main opponents were either barred or imprisoned sparking protests according to reports. The opposition says about 700 lives had been lost.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan the first female president was seeking a second term after completing a first term won by President John Magufuli whom she tookover from. She is set to be sworn in today in Dodoma. The ceremony will take place at a military ground, and no members of the public are allowed to attend according local reports.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations in Zambia says Hichilema will attend and he fly back immediately after the event.
