Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval for Key Appointments Amid Rivers State Emergency Rule

Bola Ahmed Tinubuhas formally requested the
National Assembly’sconfirmation of critical appointments in
Rivers State, as part of measures under the recently declared
state of emergencyin the region.
In a letter read by
Senate President Godswill Akpabioduring Thursday’s plenary session, Tinubu sought approval for the appointment of a
Chairman and six members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
The nominees were put forward by the
sole administrator currently overseeing the state’s affairs.
President Tinubu emphasized that these appointments are essential to ensure smooth governance during the emergency period and to support the administrator in managing state functions effectively.
The request also includes confirmations for positions within the
Rivers State Primary Healthcare Board, the Rivers State Civil Service Commission, and the
Rivers State Local Government Civil Service Commission.
