BREAKING NEWS: COURT NULLIFIES THE UNPROCEDURAL IMPEACHMENT OF RT HON. PRINCE OGUEJIOFOR OKOLI

In a landmark judgement delivered by Hon. Justice Chido C. Nwakanma in suit number HUM/35/2021 on March 27th 2025, the judge held that Rt. Hon. Prince Oguejiofor Okoli remains the leader of Umunneochi 5th Legislative Council for 2020/2022. As a result, all his prayers in the suit were granted by the court. That means, all his emoluments and entitlements shall be given to him including the jeep he negotiated for the 17 LGA leaders which was denied him as a result of the illegal impeachment.

Rt Hon. Prince Oguejiofor Okoli is the councilor who represented Lokpaukwu ward in Umunneochi 5th Legislative Council – 2020/2022, he was subsequently made the Leader of the Legislative Council.

Owing to his experience in leadership, all the council leaders of Abia state voted him as their Leader in February 2021 and he became the LEADER OF ALL LEADERS in Abia State, a very enviable position.

Through his office as the leader of all leaders, he was interfacing with the government of governor Okezie ikpeazu PhD and other political leaders in Abia State.

1. The subvention of councilors across the state was increased from initial ₦700,000 to ₦2,000,000 courtesy of his Office.

2. Impress of ₦500,000 was approved for all council leaders in Abia State through his office.

3. He pleaded with the governor to give official vehicles to all the leaders and councilors in Abia State and the governor approved same and released 17 jeeps to the Council leaders and promised to release official vehicles to other councilors on the occasion of his grand reception by Abia State councilors at Umuahia township stadium. Proposal for the event was already approved but unfortunately it was truncated by his illegal impeachment masterminded by the greedy and dishonorable councilors and the former Chairman of Umunneochi LGA.

However, the governor frowned at the illegal impeachment and advised them to reverse it but they vehemently refused. That’s how the Umunneochi envious councilors made other councilors in the state lose their official vehicles.

4. Rt Hon. Prince Oguejiofor Okoli arranged with ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH NIGERIAN COUNCILORS UK ABNCUK to host a four – day seminar at Queen Mary University Hall London for the 17 Abia State Council Leaders. Most of the leaders have already gotten their international passports waiting for the visa process before the Umunneochi Legislative Council shot themselves in the leg.

5. As a councilor representing Lokpaukwu ward he dug water well for all the five communities in Lokpaukwu ward as water is luxury in Umuchieze due to the existence of bed rocks in the area.

6. He negotiated with landowners and provided 10 plots of land for IPU USA where they built their hospital which has been providing efficient medical care for Umunneochi people.

7. The proposal to build recreation parks across the 17 local government was approved but was truncated by the illegal impeachment.

Rt Hon. Prince Oguejiofor Okoli was already changing the narrative in Umunneochi as a leader and in Abia State as leader of all leaders before the ugly incident.

Furthermore, he was also suspended by the councilors for seeking redress in court.

This young and vibrant leader really meant well for the Umunneochi people and for all the Councilors in Abia State.

He was not perturbed by alI these set backs because according to him, “I feed my focus and starve my distraction.” This is coupled with the fact that he upholds his name at all times.

‘ OGU EJI OFOR ALU’

I really salute his courage, resilience, doggedness and diligence in pursuing this matter for four years. He is a real man.

Nevertheless, he has gotten justice and all he has lost will be restored, because justice delayed is not justice denied.

Special thanks to Barr. Mordecai Ihejirika and Barr. Izundu Ukanwa who stood firm in their argument that it’s a nonprocedural impeachment.

The dishonorable members of Umunneochi may even go to jail for contempt of court as form 48 and 49 have been served on them and their bench warrant ordered by the court for non appearance in court.

To God be all the glory

Congrats Rt. Hon. Prince Gabriel Oguejiofor Okoli.

Remain great.

Hon. John Ibe
