Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has stated that a street in his area of Lagos State was recently named after a former governor

Speaking in an interview with The Legacy Series, Falana said the former governor was accused of stealing close to 7 billion naira meant for buying arms and ammunition to fight terrorists. He said the ex-governor was taken to court but was later freed on technical grounds.

Falana stated that presenting such a person as a hero by naming a street after him sends the wrong message to young people.

In Falana’s words: “A man who stole close to 7 billion naira from money meant to procure arms and ammunition to fight terrorists, and who was charged but freed by a court technically. You now said this is the hero in the society and a street should be named after him? No, we have the right to challenge such monstrosity….
