In a major breakthrough against criminal activities in Zamfara State, security operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) successfully intercepted an attempted ransom payment and engaged a notorious group of bandits in a fierce gun battle, leading to the neutralization of the armed criminals. The operation, which took place on Wednesday within the dense Ganuwa forest in Tsafe Local Government Area, was a well-coordinated effort based on credible intelligence, as reported by DAILY POST.

According to reports from security analyst Zagazola Makama, shared via his official X handle, the JTF operatives had received intelligence indicating that a group of individuals was on the verge of delivering ransom money to secure the release of a kidnapped victim. Acting swiftly, the security forces mobilized and strategically positioned themselves to disrupt the transaction before it could take place.

“The bandits reportedly emerged from their hideout to collect the ransom but ran into the waiting security personnel,” the post stated.

“Upon sighting the operatives, the criminals opened fire, leading to a fierce gun battle.”

Upon realizing they had been ambushed, the criminals immediately opened fire, triggering a tense exchange of gunfire between them and the JTF operatives. The security team, anticipating resistance, held their ground and adopted a strategic approach that forced the bandits into a prolonged confrontation.

During the intense firefight, the JTF personnel allowed the attackers to expend their ammunition while maintaining their own defensive positions. Once the bandits had depleted their firepower, the security operatives launched a decisive counteroffensive, successfully eliminating several of the criminals and driving the rest into disarray.

Following the operation, security forces recovered two motorcycles and a cache of weapons belonging to the neutralized bandits. These items are believed to have been used by the criminals for their illicit activities, including kidnappings and extortion.

In a positive turn of events, the kidnapped victim, for whom the ransom was intended, was safely rescued from captivity. The security report confirmed that the individual was found unharmed and has since been reunited with his family in stable health.
