There is nothing bad about that – Jide Kosoko speaks on Funke Akindele dance strategy

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has weighed in on using unusual methods, such asdancing, to promote films in Nigeria.

During an appearance on the TVC Breakfast Show on Friday, Kosoko said that although this approach is “not the best,” it has brought real results for actors like Funke Akindele.

However, he insisted that this is not the best way to promote movies and suggested that film promotion should be more organised.

He said, “There is nothing bad about that style for her, but I’m telling you it is not the best. There should be a more organised way of promoting our movies.”

He explained that since promotional efforts aim to generate returns, this strategy works well in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

“Funke thought it was wise to do something that could bring attention, and she did it. And it’s working for her and a lot of us, too. At the end of the day, what you are looking for is returns,”he said.

Kosoko pointed out that the local situation is not the same as what happens in other places. He said, “I’ve travelled a lot, and I know that people elsewhere, even actors, don’t dance about their movies. That is not the standard. But unfortunately, our environment is different.”
