Jamal Simmons, the former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris,
聽has called on President Joe Biden to step down and make聽way for Harris to become the first female President of the United States.
In a discussion on CNN’s State of the Union, Simmons praised Biden for his presidency, noting that he had fulfilled many of his promises.
However, he argued that one last promise remained, to be a transitional figure.
According to Vanguard, Simmons suggested that Biden resign within the next 30 days, enabling Harris to ascend to the presidency.
Furthermore, Simmons believes it would pave the way for future women candidates to run without bearing the heavy weight of being the first woman president.
When questioned about Harris’ potential nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, Simmons reiterated his support for her to serve as president.
He argued that Biden has the power to fulfill
聽this “last promise” and would make history by making Harris聽the 47th president of the United States.
The call comes amidst the aftermath of the recent U.S. presidential election, where Donald Trump defeated Harris, securing key swing states. Trump is set to be inaugurated as president in January 2025.
